Tenchu has been a martial arts mainstay for almost a decade. In the nine years since the original Tenchu: Stealth Assassins hit the PlayStation, we've had eight games in the series, culminating with this week's Tenchu Z for the Xbox 360. While some of the faces and technology have changed, the basic premise remains the same: Use ninja skills and a lot of stealth to creep through level after level, achieving nefarious goals.

But while Tenchu Z will be quickly recognizable to players familiar with old chapters, it features some new tricks as well. In previous Tenchu renditions, you'd be stuck playing one of two characters and choosing from a limited set of skills and weapons. This time around, the game features a character creation system that's -- well, pretty similar to most other games at this point. You'll create a look and, over time, assign points to skill areas to create a vaguely unique ninja. In truth, however, they all play pretty much the same.
