Your haul is refilled through time and achievement in battle and you can play several cards at once, but they are valuable things which allow you to conquer a battle if used well. An enemy crushed by an assault and stuck in a dead heat, for instance, can be tipped into surrender with vigilant manipulation of the intelligence he has at his disposal.
