1UP- After several months of fantastic NPD showings and gobs of mainstream hype, Reuters is reporting that Nintendo has overtaken Matsushita (Panasonic's manufacturer) to become the second biggest manufacturer of consumer electronics in terms of market value.

On Wednesday, Nintendo's shares rose 1.4 percent, increasing their market capitalisation to 6.3 trillion yen (approximately $51 billion). This marks their first time rising above Matsushita, which currently sits at 6.23 trillion yen ($50 billion). Still above Nintendo in the number one spot? Yep, you guessed it: Sony, resting in a comfortable 6.64 trillion yen ($54 billion). According to Reuters, both Sony and Matsushita have sales numbers more than eight times as big as Nintendo.
