Hothead Named Most Promising at Canadian Awards
Canadian New Media Awards honors Penny Arcade game devs.
The Canadian New Media Awards was started in 1999 to recognize those who have achieved particular excellence in the world of new media basically, anything digital and interactive. This year's gala presentation event in Toronto revealed a surprise winner from the gaming world.
Vancouver developer Hothead Games ended up taking home the honor of Most Promising New Company from the event. What exactly did the CNMA find so exciting about this new developer? Most notably, they're currently hard at work on Penny Arcade Adventures, but according to their website, they've got a couple other interesting games in the making.

For example, there's Swarm, an environmentallythemed comedy adventure game that was a winner for best concept in Telefilm Canada's Great Canadian Video Game Competition. Another project, Gwabs, is being called the first desktop to desktop combat game. In addition to these originalsounding games, Hothead is hard at work on several other ideas.
We've still got a while to wait before we get our first chance to see if Hothead can pull through in execution as well as conception, but no doubt gamers everywhere should be anxious to find out.
