The second demo version takes in a enormous boss battle in a valley strewn with the wreckage from prior battles. First the third-person player-controlled troops take over a datapost - they refurbish T-Eng but as well as perform as save checkpoints – prior to a hideous, hulking sloth-like boss slithers on top of ground and starts stomping around on six legs, pouring at the small humans with a froggy prehensile tongue. Its appearance calls to mind Paul Verhoeven’s Starship Troopers with horns and spikes covering this monsterous creature’s face and back.

The same as with the beasties in the Dutchman’s discordant satire, this baddie’s suitably epic health-bar can be weakened in certain ways. You can immediately engage its glowing weak points at the joints, and jump into one of the reurning Vital Suits (mechs) to try and dismember it using the more extreme firepower therein. Another alternative would be to mount yourself on top of a hill and fire at a very large weak area on its back. One Takeuchi’s favorite is an invasion through its mouth into its guts, where the game player splashes around ankle-high rivers of bile breaking apart the intestines, much like that piece in Gears of War 2.
