CC3 Expansion Announced During Battlecast Command Conquer 3 Walkthrough Video Game Strategy Guide
New units, subfactions, interface in CC3 expansion Kanes Wrath
As far as RTS games go, Command Conquer 3 is one of my favorites. The franchises marquee presentation captured my heart, as I spent countless hours playing and replaying through the section where my beloved Dr. Cameron ordered me around. However, aside from a rather modest map pack and some much needed patching, interest in CC3 seems to have died down.
Thankfully, fans hungry for more Command Conquer action have had their cries answered by EA, which announced during the premiere of Command Conquer TVs Battlecast that an expansion for the title was due out in early 2008. Titled Kanes Wrath, the expansion will feature new units and two new subfactions for each of the games three factions, some interface tweaks, and the chronicles of Kanes exploits from the end of CC2 all the way through to the future following the end of CC3. Theres no word yet on whether or not this expansion will be released as a full retail title or just a downloadable pack, though the expansion is slated to hit both the PC and the Xbox 360.
The interface improvements include what would amount to a significant change for the 360 version. The biggest complaint about the original was the clunky menu navigation; thumbing through a linear list of buildable units was a bit cumbersome. As though drawing on the competition, EA has built a new radial menu system that looks to greatly refine the experience for console players.
If the team at EA can hammer out some fixes and ensure that the entire game is tightly balanced, then this should be quite a nice update. The big patches were a while coming for the original CC3, so Im hoping that the balancing work is being done with care.
